2 Days To Go – Am I Ready?

My giving up date has been set and is now getting closer. I just have two days left before I make a serious attempt in giving up the cigarettes for good.

My question to myself is “Am I Ready?”

The answer is I’m not really sure.  Monday will be a slight odd day or me as my lifestyle would of varied to what I’m used to.

  • I’m starting work around 5:30am – which is something I rarely do.
  • I finish work at 5:00pm which is something I rarely do.
  • I’m working a 12 hour shift which is something I rarely do.
  • As I work as a Assistant Manager for a medium sized supermarket, my manager and the other assistant manager are not in the business at all on Monday so it’s upto me to run the store on my own all day – which is something I rarely do.

You see from the four key points mentioned above, my normal lifestyle has changed infour ways. I’m starting work at a different time, finishing at a different time, have more responsibility than normal and working more hours than normal.

So! the biggest change in my lifestyle is waking up Monday morning about 4:30am and not lighting up. But, something great would of come out of me not lighting up Monday morning and that I wouldn’t of spent another £5.00 on a packet of cigarettes so immediately I have changed my lifestyle again by spending £5 less than I would of.

A few positives to look forward to:

  • Not much staff smoke at my workplace – therefore I won’t have the incentive of being offered a smoke break.
  • I have recently just brought a newish car which is spotless inside and dosen’t smell of stale smoke.
  • The Money I’ll be saving. Monday = £5,  7 days later will be £35.00, 4 weeks later will be £140, 12 weeks later will be £420, 26 weeks later will be £910.00 and over the course of a full year £1,820.00
  • Whilst I’m saving – my health will improve.

A few negatives I’m not looking forward to:

  • My parents and my sister smoke. That will be hard for me when I witness them puffing away.
  • I will miss popping outside for some fresh air whilst at work or a nightclub.
  • That cigarette first thing in the morning, along with a strong cuppa.
  • What would I normally do when I’m smoking

So, the answer to the question – Am I ready?

Yes! I’m ready to improve my health.

Yes! I’m ready to save money.

Yes! I’m ready to improve my lifestyle.

In two days time my lifestyle is going to change for the better.
