Day 14

I can’t really say I have been 100% smoke free during the past 14 days. But, I estimate to have been around 75% smoke free, hence I’ve smoked 75% less than normal.

When at home I find it easy not to smoke, cause I’m busy at my computer working on my websites and doing stuff I enjoy so that is distracting me from the need to smoke.

My biggest struggle is at work where I am under so much pressure and suffering so much problems which is dramatically affecting my working performance and attitude whilst at work.

I am an Assistant Manager for a Frozen Food Specialist store and there isn’t a lot of us who work there, and we are taking a lot of dosh through the tills and serving a lot of customers and senior management always want you to strive you to do even better, where we know it is near impossible to achieve as we simply have far too much work to do.

This has resulted in me getting stressed (which I must state that I do not get stressed easily) and it is so easy to just disappear out of the store for 10 minutes for a smoke and just visualise those 10 minutes of stress free aggrovation.

On one occasion! I even nipped out for a smoke using my e-cig and being honest that did nothing to relax me, I just wanted that real cigarette feeling, but I still opted to smoke the e-cig.

I’ve only been in this job for around 3 months and can’t see myself staying much longer. I’m either going to be dismissed due to not achieving my objectives or I’m gonna end up telling them to stick it. Although I don’t want any of these to happen, but in reality I no it will go in one of those directions.

I am now on the hunt for a new job in retail, but not of a managerial level. I want to be able to go to work with a clear head and go in with a great positive “can do” attitude and go home happy to do some more work on my sites and then do the same on the next day.

If anyone fancies a job swap then please let me know – I’ll be open to most offers.

I’m gonna continue this week to eliminate having smoke breaks at work. If I can crack that then I no I’ll be able to lead a smoke free life.

Stress in the workplace isn't very good for stopping smoking, been there!! I used to think that I needed a cig to cope with it but now I think that it was more the action of being able to go outside away from the problems that helped the most. Now I just get stuck into some work and being in the same type of job I go outside and do some yardwork when I want to get away from things.
