Giving Up Smoking 7 Weeks Smoke Free

Last weekend I went to stay at my daughters house for the first time since stopping smoking and caused a bit of consternation at the train station with my electronic cigarette. I’ve got that used to pulling it out of my pocket and taking an occasional puff I forgot that I was in public. You can read about my railway station experience if you click here.

It was my first experience of staying in the same house as a smoker since stopping smoking. My daughter smokes but so rarely and outside it didn’t really bother me being around her, and I wasn’t tempted with her cigarettes.

My 4 year old granddaughter Izzy was quite taken with my pretend cigarette. She couldn’t understand the concept and looked at me as if I was nuts when I tried to explain.

I’ve got to admit that last week was the toughest yet. It was very warm here, the heat was tiring to work in and made me feel cranky. On Thursday I felt so irritable that I put a patch on for the first time in a couple of weeks. Walking up to work in the early afternoon made me so warm that my skin was too damp for the patch to stick to and I was patchless and had no e cig for that 8 hour shift. Once I got stuck into work I felt fine and forgot about everything except work, I didn’t even get cranky with the staff!
