I bought this in the hope that it would be as good as the book. I was very dissapointed. It took me about an hour to complete the whole thing.

Like the book it goes through the traps us smokers fell into and the illusions which keep us smoking, however it doesn’t manage to totally rid them all. The couple of sentences it gives after each ‘game’ is not nearly enough to un-brainwash you. I was expecting so much more.

The games are designed to show you the trap you are in using analogies. Well they gave my hands something to do! A little stick man doesn’t really do anything for me.

I am using this game only as an accompaniment to the book. The book to do the real work and the game to give me a reminder and something for my hands to do.

IMHO I think you’d be wasting your money when the book is half the price and works so much better.

  2. I bought this game under the confusion, that it would help me take up smoking as it is a life-time ambition to be able to tell people on the street:

    “Hey, I’m a smoker.”

This game actually persuaded me not to!

I am now very upset that I can no-longer take part in something I have wanted to do my whole life!

I got this hoping it would help at least a little to get my mind focussed. It didn’t. The mini-games are just annoying and pointless and the advise would be much better got from a book or tape. Do yourself a favour and just buy the book.

  4. Like another reviewer, I expected a lot more from this. This is basically the book with a few extras thrown in as a nod to the DS format. The games are neither interesting nor challenging, and the so-called ‘freedom meter’ is an insult to intelligence. The personal profiling is very limited, and there is nothing special about the ‘Special Calendar of Benefits’. You can get more useful information by doing an internet search.

I’m not looking for a magic bullet, just some extra motivation. I believe the Allen Carr method can be effective, and a decent programme on the DS would have made a great alternative to passive book-reading, or splashing out on the clinic/workshop-type thing that they do, if they do one in your area. It’s a shame that the opportunity has been wasted.

OMG, where to start?!?! I think this has changed my life for good, i have been off the cancer sticks, as the game affectionately calls them, for 3 months, and i haven’t had a craving in 2 months.

Would recommend this to anyone in desperate need :)
