Giving Up Smoking – 3 Months Tobacco Free

If anybody would have asked me 3 months ago if I thought that I could last so long without caving in and buying some cigarettes I would have said that it was very doubtful. I know myself all too well so I think that it is blooming amazing that even the temptation hasn’t been there.

That’s down to having electronic cigarettes at hand. They have done the trick for me and my use of them is now minimal. I actually have one with a no nicotine cartidge in it and another with nicotine. I said in my last months diary that I was going to go for complete days without even e cigs and I have done without feeling needy. Some days I don’t use them at all and others I just have a couple of drags late in the evening more as a treat.

Electronic cigarettes do not contain the health harming chemicals that you find in tobacco products and can be used either as a substitute or as I have to wean myself off harmful cigarettes.  The cartridges for electric cigarettes can be bought in varying strengths of nicotine as with nicotine patches.

It is nicotine that causes the addiction to tobacco products so until I am completely off the e-cigs with nicotine I can’t consider myself totally stopped but definitely over the worst.

My skin looks great upt to previously I feel fitter and healthier. I said last month that I was worried about my checkup at the dentist this month, well I need not have been.

My teeth have been quite painful and gums bleeding a bit, I was convinced that I would be getting several teeth pulled but I was wrong. My dentist had previously told me that smoking over many years has caused problems with my teeth and gums but nicotine masks the symptoms and narrows the blood vessels.

He was delighted that I had stopped smoking and told me that now the nicotine has stopped masking the symptoms and the blood vessels are opening up I can expect to feel varying amounts of symptoms and pain for up to a year. That’s horrible isn’t it?

However, my dentist tells me that as long as I keep up a good dental care regime and don’t smoke there is actually healing going on in my mouth so that is good news.

The electronic cigarettes using nicotine cartridges are a shady area, but as my nicotine intake has been massively reduced I expect that’s why the healing has started.

My total savings now taking into account the cast of patches and e-cigs is £250. I’ve already used the savings to put towards a new Sony Viao laptop, it looks a lot better than a stack of 130+ cigarette packets that I would have gone through doesn’t it?

What It Takes To Stop Smoking Cigarettes

How do you make yourself stop smoking cigarettes? Many smokers have already reached the conclusion that they have to quit sooner or later and they also know that sooner is the better choice. Knowing that you need to stop smoking is one thing, getting around to actually getting it done is quite another. People that are addicted to other drugs often go to a rehabilitation center to help them kick their habits to other substances. It could be said that a smoker does not need that kind of serious intervention, but with no many that fail in the quest to quit, it might be something to consider after all.

If you are like most people that smoke, you probably could not afford to go to a rehab center anyway. So, most people do what everyone else has tried. They buy nicotine patches, nicotine gum, they try cold turkey, they join support groups, they get hypnotized, and any other trick they can think of. Sometimes these methods work for some and not for others. Some smokers can quit much easier than some. Some just give up and this the the worst mistake they can make. They get frustrated with the constant cravings. Of course, they should expect this since it is something they have been doing up to 20 times a day or more everyday for possibly years.

Willpower and determination are the two deciding factors whether you will be able to quit or not. It all boils down to that. You can buy all of the stop smoking aids you can find, but they will never work for you unless you are absolutely set on quitting. It is nothing that you will be able to accomplish with a halfhearted attitude. You either are firm in your decision or not. This can be said for many things you want to do in life. Saving money, losing weight, giving up drugs or alcohol. It all comes down to you.

It is a shame that so many smokers wait until they have developed some serious health issues before they can reach the point where they absolutely want to quit. Often, by the time they reach this point they already have a disease that will be with them for the rest of their life and sometimes this might not be very long. Do not let yourself be one of those that wait almost too late before you try to quit. Make your firm decision today. Everyday longer you wait to start the quitting process, the harder it is likely to be ands the more risk you are taking with what might be left of your good health.

The Reality Financial Effects of Smoking

Tobacco companies and government are the only ones that benefit from the sale of tobacco. Both receive trillions of wealth in a way of taxes and net profits. Smokers are unaware of the amount they spend on lighting every cigarette.

Not only does smoking have financial implications, as it also consumes time. This results in sick leaves at workplace and companies incur losses due to loss of productivity. These are just some of the smoking effects.

Next, apart from general smoking effects, the financial burden it brings in is hard to ignore:

By lighting 20 cigarettes each day, individuals end up smoking 7,300 cigarettes yearly. Even by choosing low cost brands, they are still investing more than £1,825 (based on £5 per packet) yearly. Therefore, there is not only a risk for various illnesses, but also spending all that hard earned cash on tobacco.

In fact, smokers can invest or spend this money in something fruitful, productive, or valuable. It can be anything such as a vacation, a wardrobe, or modern gadgets. People, who have just taken up smoking, can save up to £35 every week by quitting the habit.
